Explorer Camp: 1st – 2nd Grade

Explorer campers will take part in funshops daily, such as woodworking, swim and no-heat cooking.  Our Explorer Campers will share age-appropriate field trips with both our Adventure Camp and Junior Camp.  They will also take part in all special events held on campus like the Talent Show, Mini Olympics and a variety of Spirit Days!

Campers will stay together with their group as they attend their three funshops each morning.

Campers can also enroll in our Master Chef with Ms. Maxie specialty camp which takes place from 9 A.M. – 12 P.M. and runs for 1 week.  To learn more, please visit the Specialty Camps page.

** Exact daily schedules will be determined by your camper’s counselor and may be viewed weekly in each classroom.

Funshop Descriptions

Art: Campers will express their artistic side through a variety of mediums.  Paint, clay, sequins and more can be found when our campers get messy during this Art funshop.

Barnyard: A popular place at Camp Woodland Hills, campers will enjoy their time learning about and caring for our fabulous furry (and sometimes scaly and feathery) friends with our Animal & Nature Specialists. 

Basketball:  Dribble, dribble, shoot, shoot, take that ball to the hoop, hoop, in this camp favorite! Campers will learn basic skills and drills to refine their game during this funshop. From layups to pick up games, the campers will have a blast imagining themselves as the next Lebron James or CP3.

Clays & Dough: Gak, Oobleck and Homemade play dough can be seen and created.  Campers will also create masterpiece sculptures to take home after this fun experience.

No Heat Cooking: Yummy!! Campers love our no heat cooking program.  They will learn how to make turkey wraps, sweet smoothies, and fresh creamy guacamole among many other things. Delightfully delicious!

Swim: Cool off in our pool for swim lessons instructed by our fully qualified and certified swim staff.  Campers will get comfortable in the water and work on their swim techniques while gaining confidence.

Soccer:  Refine and build your skills in this funshop. Campers will work on basic soccer skills and compete in friendly, competitive, matches. They will focus on teamwork and good sportsmanship while scoring goals!

Sports & Games: Time to get out and get active during Sports & Games time! Campers will be exposed to a variety of athletic activities where they get up and get moving.

Super Science: There are volcanoes, soda explosions and so much more in this exciting funshop.  Campers will enjoy the mysteries of science through hands-on activities.

Woodworking: Learn about safety and technique in this wood crafting class.  Another camp favorite, campers will make birdhouses, name plates and so much more!

Adventure Camp: 3rd – 6th grade

Adventure campers have a blast in our morning , swim in the pool, and enjoy the excitement of our game room playing with the Wii systems, Xbox 360s, pool, air hockey, computers and more.  Adventure campers can’t wait when it is time to take part in all the special events, Spirit Days, and WEEKLY FIELD TRIPS that are an integral part of this wonderful summer camp experience.

Participants will attend three (3) funshops each morning. If your child chooses to opt out of any main funshop, we will provide our alternative funshop (description provided below).

Animal Studies: This funshop will take place in our Animals and Nature Center. Similar to our elementary school curriculum, campers will learn about our feathered and furry friends with a focus on 3 strands: Ecology, Evolution/Genetics, and Husbandry.

Tin & Leatherwork: A Camp Woodland Hills Classic with a new twist, our campers love making purses, stamping bracelets, and creating memorable pieces of metal art!

Volleyball: Campers will enjoy learning and playing volleyball in this funshop. They will focus on the basic skills needed to become a volleyball pro and play games to advance their game.

Weaving: Take some time to cool off and make something beautiful. In weaving, campers will enjoy making potholders, baskets, place mats and so much more!

Woodworking: Learn about safety and technique in this wood crafting class.  Another camp favorite, campers will make birdhouses, name plates and so much more!

Yoga: Campers will find their inner peace during this calming funshop. They will take a break from the high-energy rush of the camp day to recenter and focus on what lies ahead. Namaste.

Specialty Camps

Camp Woodland Hills is offering 2 specialty camps. Each of these week-long camps will be filled with new and exciting experiences.

  • Each of these camps will run for 1 week and requires a sign up of 5 consecutive days of attendance.
  • Campers will join with our regular Camp Woodland Hills campers for our morning song fest. Then from 9 A.M. – 12 P.M., they will be involved with their Specialty Camp activities.
  • After lunch, they will join our regular camp program for all the daily fun-filled swim, game room and home room activities.

Listed below are the dates and descriptions of each of the Specialty Camps. In addition to the weeks of the Specialty Camps, campers may also sign up to attend our regular camp for any of the other weeks of the Camp Woodland Hills program.
